The Issues That Really Should Have Ended Cain's Campaign

By Jake Porter, on Dec 4, 2011

Herman Cain is finally ending his Presidential campaign after a series of allegations including sexual harassment and adultery. A case can be made that adultery would have little to nothing to do with Cain's ability to govern; however, I think most reasonable and prudent Americans would agree we do not want sexual harassment to take place in the White House. That being said, allegations are just that, allegations. Many of those in the so called mainstream media continued to ignore the real and verifiable reasons Herman Cain was unqualified to be President and when they had a sensational story to end his campaign they used and focused on the sensational story instead of the boring policy discussions that Cain was unable to answer in interviews and debates.

Defense Authorization Act Would Give Military Power To Detain Suspects Indefinitely

By Jake Porter, on Dec 1, 2011

A big thumbs down to a couple of little discussed provisions of the National Defense Authorization Act of 2012 that would give the Department of Defense the ability to detain suspected terrorists on American soil indefinitely denying them the right to a trial so long as the federal government claims they are members of Al Qaeda.

Ed Thompson Passes Away

By Jake Porter, on Oct 21, 2011

I was very sad to learn that Ed Thompson, former Mayor of Tomah, Wisconsin and brother of former Wisconsin Governor Tommy Thompson, has passed away at the age of 66 after a battle with pancreatic cancer.

In 2002, Thompson ran for governor as a Libertarian receiving 11 percent of the vote.  Last year, Thompson ran for State Senate losing by less than a percentage point.  Many believe Thompson would have won had he not been diagnosed with cancer towards the end of the campaign.

THANK YOU!

By Jake Porter, on Nov 2, 2010

Early this morning, I sent a message to Matt Schultz congratulating him on his victory. I have also sent a message to Michael Mauro thanking him for his service to the state of Iowa. Michael's hard work and dedication to the election process is greatly appreciated.
