I was very sad to learn that Ed Thompson, former Mayor of Tomah, Wisconsin and brother of former Wisconsin Governor Tommy Thompson, has passed away at the age of 66 after a battle with pancreatic cancer.

In 2002, Thompson ran for governor as a Libertarian receiving 11 percent of the vote.  Last year, Thompson ran for State Senate losing by less than a percentage point.  Many believe Thompson would have won had he not been diagnosed with cancer towards the end of the campaign.

Ed was a tireless advocate for liberty, a great campaigner, and a real inspiration.  He will be sadly missed in the liberty community.
